A Walk to Remember
Chapters 10, 11, 12, & 13
At the beginning of chapter 10Landon and Jamie are getting back from the orphanage. Landon knows he wants to make a move but he just can't. He asks Jamie to come over the next day, when she gets there she was in awe of his house even though she has been there before. they talked about their families and at the end of the night had their first kiss. Landon had taken Jamie out to a very nice restaurant on New Years Eve. He also took her out to a few more times later in the chapter. At the end of the chapter, Landon told Jamie that he loved her and she cried for a while. Eventually, she told Landon that she was dying. The next chapter is about Jamie getting worse people were finding out and Landon still wished he could do something about it. He realized one day what he had to do. He asked Hegbert first, and then the went to Jamie. He asked her to marry him. She said yes. Jamie and Landon were married by Hegbert. Jamie was very sick by the time they were getting married. She took a long time getting up the isle and sat in a wheel chair for the rest. Landon kneeled to her height and everyone else followed. Landon talks about how he is 57 now and is still very much in love with Jamie. After he met Jamie, he truly believed miracles can happen.

Responce
I think it must have been very hard for Jamie to tell Landon that she was dying. She was in love with Landon which made her even more scared. I think Hegbert didn't want to let go of Jamie but it would make her very happy. It was her life goal to get married before she died.

A Walk to Remember
Chapters 7, 8, & 9
After the play practice the night before the show. Landon got forced into walking Jamie home. He was in a bad mood, and ended up yelling at her. The night of the play Landon showed up and alologized to her. The play went very well and everyone loved it. Jamie thanked Landon for helping with everything. Jamie asked Landon to pick up all the jars she had set around town collecting money for the orphans. He picked them up and brought them to Jamie's to count them one day. Christmas eve, Jamie and Landon went to the orphanage. All the kids loved their gifts and hearing the story. Landon got Jamie a sweater, and Jamie also had a gift for Landon. It was her mother's Bible. Landon admitted that he had fallen in love with Jamie. The next day Landon asked Jamie over for Christmas dinner and she had agreed to come.

Responce
I think that Landon is scared to love Jamie and thats why he hasn't told her yet. The kids at the orphanage are very thankful for whatever they get. I think if more kids acted like the orphans then the world wouldn't be so greedy.

Thursday 2/12

A Walk to Remember
Chapters 5, 6, & 7
This chapter tells you about what is happening with the play. Landon wasn't doing very well with his lines. After rehearsal one day Landon was with Eric and Margaret when Jamie came up, they made fun of her and she didn't even seem to notice. Everyone in the school asked Landon if they were going out or even engaged. It was getting kind of ridicules. Jamie and Landon went to the orphanage in this chapter. They were going to ask the director about showing the kids the Christmas play. They had to talk alone while they waited for the director. When they asked he said it probably wasn't a very good idea. He didn't want to remind the kids of what they didn't have for Christmas. They then visited the kids and they were leaving Landon told Jamie that they were good kids. Jamie was still worried about what she would do for the kids this Christmas. Landon walked Jamie home after practice because she doesn't like to be alone especially since it was dark. One time, Eric and Margaret pulled over and made fun of them being together but Jamie just played it off.

Responce
I think Landon is being a really good guy. He is giving Jamie the chance that no one else would give her. He did the play for her, walks her home, and still doesn't worry to much about what people are saying. Eric and Margaret aren't being very good friends toward Landon in my opinion. I also think Hebert is starting to warm up to Landon a little bit more each time.

A Walk to Remember
Chapters 2 & 3 (pgs. 45-78)
Landon and Jamie went to the dance in this chapter. When they got there it wasn;t that great. Landon was actually depressed for the whole first hour. After Landon and Jamie danced for a while they sat down and talked for a while. Landon wasn't really listening and he started to look around the room when he saw his ex-girlfriend, Angela. Lew, Angela's new boyfriend saw Landon and walked over to start a fight. Jamie broke into the conversation with a story about knowing his grandma. He felt he couldn't do anything after Jamie had said that. Angela was drink off the punch that Lew spikedand she puked all over the ladie's bathroom. Jamie and Landon cleaned it all up before anyone found out. Right after cleaning it all up, they took Angela home. Her mom seemed very upset with them but she was probably just embarrassed. Landon took Jamie home next and he walked her to her door but didn't try to kiss her. After that night Landon didn't talk to Jamie for a long time. Landon was back to his old routine of going to the graveyard to eat roasted peanuts with his buddies. One of his friends asked him about it and made fun of him a little but nothing to much was said. Then. one day when he was working on college application papers. Jamie called. She wanted him to come over later because it was very important. When he got there she asked him to play a part in the play because it was important to her father. After a long time of trying to get out of it, he agreed to doing it.

Responce
  • I think that Jamie is a strong person who can get anthing she just needs to enforce it. Landon and Jamie were really good friends to Angela when they cleaned everything up for her so that she wouldn't get in trouble. I also think Landon is a really nice guy to play that part for Jamie.

Monday 2/9

A Walk to Remember
Chapters 1 & 2 (pgs. 1-44)
In the first chapter it talks about Landon's father. His father is a politician and was only home 3 months out of the whole year. Then it talks about Hegbert and how he was a minister. He wrote a Christmas play & everyone loved it. Hegbert had one daughter, whose mother died during childbirth. His daughter, Jamie, was a nice girl who did everything perfectly. She always had a Bible with her and never said anything bad about anyone. She always wore the same type of clothes and never wore make-up. She was going to play the angel in the Christmas play this year and the drama teacher was thrilled. Landon is also in the drama class with Jamie and he said she looked different this year. As the second chapter starts, Landon's father is telling Landon that he must run for student body president. So, Landon did, and he won. Because Landon was president he needed to have a date for the homecoming dance. He tried everyone but they were all taken. His last reasonable aption was Jamie. He went to her house after school one day and when he asked her she was very hesitant. She finally said yes, but she followed it with on one condition...that you don't fall in love with me.

Responce
  • I think Landon is a different guy than everyone, especially Jamie's father, thinks he is. If he was reasonable enough to take Jamie to the dance and be really nice to her, he must have some compassion inside of him. Jamie is a nice girl and I think that even though she is very religious she needs to loosen up a bit. You can have fun and be Godly at the same time you just have to know how.

He says he is supposed o go to a new school in the fall and he is actually going to try. he regrets talking about his past so much because it makes him miss all the people in the story.

-- i think that the end is not that great. It is kind of predictable that he is telling it from school.

After Holden leaves he goes and sleeps on a bench and decides that he will never go to school again. He then writes phoebe a note and brings it to her school. he gets very depressed when se find fuck you written on the wall. chapter 23

After he comes back his parents returned home. holden had to hide while his mother tucked phoebe in. after she left he told phoebe goodbye and that he was heading west alone.

--i think holden should talk to his parents before he runs away from his troubles. If they get really mad he can still leave.

chapter 22

In the beginning of this chapter Holden is talking to Phoebe. He explains to her why he is getting kicked out and why he hates school so much. Then she says he hates everything so he says he likes alli. Phoebe gets mad and reminds holden that alli is dead. She asked him what he wants to do with his life and he brings up this lyric, "If a body catch a body coming through the rye."

- i think that holden likes to talk about alli and phoebe doesnt like that.

chapter 20

throughout this chapter holden gets very drunk and tries to make dates with several other women. after he leaves the bar he goes to the pond to see if the ducks are there or not. while he is there he drops and breaks the record that he bought for sally. his hair begins to freeze and he thinks that he is going to get sick and die. He then thinks about allies death and funeral and doesn't want to ge through that again.

--i think that this was an interesting chapter to read and i never really got boring.
